WANA
WITHERLEY & ATTERTON
NEIGHBOURS ASSOCIATION
The WANA Story
In November 2023, Lynne Laine, Kim Liggins, Ian Rawson Mackenzie, and Dayle Flude, residents of Witherley & Atterton wards, formed a neighbourhood association called the "Witherley and Atterton Neighbours Association" (WANA).
Public Meeting - Saturday, 13 January 2024
The first objective was to establish whether the residents of the wards would be interested in having an association to address community concerns to impact the villages positively.

The group acquired a domain and email address and created a website to introduce their idea and begin consulting with the community. To involve all the residents and workers of Atterton and Witherley, they organised a meeting on Saturday, January 13, 2024. The event was widely advertised through door-to-door leaflet drops, social media, banners, and notices displayed in each village.

The community networking event was a success, with over 90 attendees who were encouraged to share their thoughts and ideas on the future of their community.
Feedback was gathered on four key questions:
-
What do you like about Witherley and Atterton?
-
What is bothering you?
-
Would you like social events, and if so, what would you want?
-
What do you expect from WANA?
WANA GATHERING - Saturday, 13th January 2024
Public Meeting - Saturday, 3 February 2024
Feedback from the gathering was presented at a public meeting on February 3, 2024, at Witherley Parish Rooms. Again, many residents attended, representing both villages, with the aim of forming a Steering Group and Volunteer Group.
The Steering Group has been established to provide a framework for WANA and oversee the delivery of WANA's aims.
Before the meeting, nominations were requested for key officers, and the following were elected: Kim Liggins as Chair, Dayle Flude as Vice Chair, Roger Lainé as Treasurer, and Lynne Lainé as Secretary.
The first Steering Group Committee Meeting was held on Thursday, 22 February.
