WITHERLEY & ATTERTON
NEIGHBOURS ASSOCIATION

Our
Story
WANA is an innovative community-powered organisation dedicated to supporting and benefiting our community in the villages of Witherley and Atterton.
This review is a tribute to our Steering Group Members and WANA Bee volunteers, whose invaluable contributions since January 2024 have been instrumental in shaping the vision of WANA's founding members.
Together, we are developing programmes in response to community needs. We have recruited a management team and built structures to support our work. These structures, including the development of our Constitution, statements, and policies, are crucial in maintaining best-practice governance at the heart of all of our activities. To facilitate extending our reach within the community, we have also been developing our digital presence.
I am deeply proud of the work WANA does and look forward to all we will achieve in the coming years. Thank you to my fellow officers and steering Group Members. A very special thank you to the WANA Bee team of volunteers. None of what we do would be possible without you. As we reflect on our activities and achievements, I am filled with anticipation for the exciting projects and milestones we will achieve together in the coming years.

"At the heart of the WANA vision, is a need to connect the neighbourhood in new and exciting ways" says Ian "We recognised a need to have wider conversations to support and benefit the villages of Witherley and Atterton, which we all love"
Public Meeting - Saturday, 13 January 2024
The first objective was to establish whether the residents of the wards would be interested in having an association to address community concerns to impact the villages positively.
The group acquired a domain and email address and created a website to introduce their idea and begin consulting with the community. To involve all the residents and workers of Atterton and Witherley, they organised a meeting on Saturday, January 13, 2024. The event was widely advertised through door-to-door leaflet drops, social media, banners, and notices displayed in each village.
The community networking event was a success, with over 90 attendees who were encouraged to share their thoughts and ideas on the future of their community.
Feedback was gathered on four key questions:
-
What do you like about Witherley and Atterton?
-
What is bothering you?
-
Would you like social events, and if so, what would you want?
-
What do you expect from WANA?
WANA GATHERING - Saturday, 13th January 2024

Public Meeting - Saturday, 3 February 2024
Feedback from the gathering was presented at a public meeting on February 3, 2024, at Witherley Parish Rooms. Again, many residents attended, representing both villages, with the aim of forming a Steering Group and Volunteer Group.
The Steering Group has been established to provide a framework for WANA and oversee the delivery of WANA's aims.
Before the meeting, nominations were requested for key officers, and the following were elected: Kim Liggins as Chair, Dayle Flude as Vice Chair, Roger Lainé as Treasurer, and Lynne Lainé as Secretary.
The first Steering Group Committee Meeting was held on Thursday, 22 February.
