The Annual Election of
WANA Officers
January 2025
WANA is calling for nominations for volunteer officer positions for 2025.
The current officers of WANA will step down at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and may be nominated for re-election. To be eligible to serve as a WANA Officer, candidates must live or work in Witherley or Atterton and receive a valid nomination from a resident or person who works in Witherley or Atterton.
To be valid nomination papers must be submitted electronically to the WANA Secretary, using the form at the foot of this page, and be received by the deadline of 17:00 hours on 11th January, 2025.
The 2025 Officers will be elected from a list of qualifying nominees during the Annual General Meeting on 18th January 2025.
WANA Officers
Four elected officers handle daily operations and implement decisions made by the Steering Group.
These are volunteer positions, with officers elected or re-elected annually at the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Main Responsibilities

Chair
Monthly time commitment: Approximately 20 hours per month.
Ensure WANA delivers its Constitution.
Be the public face of WANA with external partners and agencies.
Maintain oversight of all WANA activities.
Chair the monthly Steering Group meetings.
Collaborate with the Vice Chair and Secretary to ensure decisions made at the Steering Group are enacted promptly.
Serve as an approved signatory for the bank account.
Participate in WANA subgroups.
Approve the final draft of the monthly newsletter.
Support the Planning subgroup Chair and the Social Events subgroup Chair in delivering the subgroup Terms of Reference.
Meet regularly with the Vice Chair and Secretary to manage WANA.
Approve draft minutes for circulation.
Approve all draft policies and statements for circulation to the Steering Group.
Approve all external correspondence drafted by the Secretary.
Maintain communication with the Officers via WhatsApp chat facility.

Vice Chair
Monthly time commitment: Approximately 20-25 hours per month.
Support the delivery of the WANA Constitution.
Actively participate as a member of the Steering Group.
Deputise for the Chair in their absence for all responsibilities.
Serve as an approved signatory for the bank account.
Lead the design and maintenance of the WANA website and the creation of promotional posters and materials, coordinating with the external printer.
Engage with WANA subgroups.
Collaborate with the Chair and Secretary to develop policies, statements, and reports.
Assist the Secretary in drafting correspondence for the Chair's approval.
Meet regularly with the Chair and Secretary to oversee WANA's operations.

Treasurer
Monthly time commitment: Approximately 10-15 hours per month
Ensure due diligence regarding WANA finances.
Support the Chair in implementing the WANA Constitution. Document all cash transactions and receipts.
Reconcile bank transactions.
Make bank payments.
Maintain a cash flow forecast.
Produce a monthly report for the Steering Group.
Attend and participate as agreed in WANA subgroups.
Assist the Planning Subgroup Chair and Social Events Chair in delivering their Terms of Reference.
Maintain communication with the Officers via the WhatsApp chat facility.
Communicate regularly with the Secretary concerning WANA expenses for planned events.

Secretary
Monthly time commitment: Approximately 25-30 hours per month
Assist the Chair in delivering the WANA Constitution.
Provide administrative support to WANA, including:

planning meetings

booking venues

preparing and distributing meeting papers

drafting correspondence

maintaining the issues and correspondence log

preparing reports for the steering group

coordinating correspondence to and from external agencies and partners.

maintaining the Steering Group action log
Participate in and offer administrative support to the WANA subgroups.
Support the Vice Chair in promoting WANA on social media.
Assist the Social Events Chair in organising and delivering social activities.
Coordinate the content, design, printing, and distribution of the monthly WANA newsletter.
