What a day it was on Sunday, 26 April! The WANA Merevale Bluebell Walk brought together a wonderful mix of people, from those just 12 weeks old to nearly 90 years, all sharing in the joy of a springtime stroll through historic parklands and woodlands by the lakeside.
This sell-out event was more than just a walk; it was a celebration of community spirit, nature’s beauty, and local generosity. Thanks to everyone who joined, volunteered, and supported the event, we created lasting memories and raised nearly £1,000 to reinvest in our community.
A Walk Through History and Nature
The Merevale Estate provided the perfect backdrop for this Bluebell Walk. Its historic parklands and woodlands offered a peaceful setting where walkers could immerse themselves in nature’s seasonal display. The bluebells carpeted the woodland floor, creating a stunning sea of blue that captured the attention of all ages. This blend of nature and heritage made the walk a unique experience that appealed to families, local residents, and nature lovers alike.
Bringing the Community Together
One of the most special aspects of the event was the diversity of people who came together. Families with young children, longtime locals, and newcomers all shared the trail. This mix created a warm, inclusive atmosphere where conversations flowed easily and new friendships formed.
The event highlighted the importance of community involvement. Volunteers played a crucial role, from guiding walkers along the route to sharing information about the bluebells, keeping everyone safe and helping to look after the estate. Their enthusiasm and dedication ensured the day ran smoothly and safely. Without their help, the event would not have been possible.

THE WANA MARSHALS
Supporting Local Causes Through Fundraising
Raising nearly £1,000 through ticket sales and an event raffle was a fantastic achievement for the WANA Merevale Bluebell Walk. These funds will go directly back into community projects, supporting local initiatives that benefit everyone. This shows how events like this can have a positive impact beyond just a day out.
The fundraising success was thanks to the generosity of participants and supporters. Whether through ticket and raffle sales or volunteering time, everyone contributed to making a difference. This collective effort demonstrates the power of community when people come together for a shared cause.
The Role of the Merevale Estate
A special thank you to the Merevale Estate. The Merevale Estate’s support was vital to the event’s success. By hosting the walk and providing access to their beautiful grounds, they opened up a special space for our community to enjoy.
The success of the WANA Merevale Bluebell Walk shows the value of events that combine outdoor activity with community engagement. It encourages people to get outside, meet neighbours, and support local causes. Plans are already underway for future walks that will continue to build on this positive momentum.
If you missed this year’s Bluebell Walk, keep an eye out for announcements about our upcoming events. Joining WANA events is a great way to enjoy fresh air and the company of neighbours, while contributing to community projects.
